About
Playford District Council
While the Playford District Council is committed to planning for the future, they are equally focused on ensuring that their current activities and services are relevant to the community now.
Playford Council continues to invest in young people, with the Northern Sound System and Playford Pathways engaging young people in learning and providing opportunities for connection with their communities.
Playford Council perseveres in delivering a capital works program that provides enhanced services to our rural and urban communities.
The District Council's work with the Waterproofing Playford project will enable the sustainable re-use of stormwater to allow watering of 80% of Council open space reserves.
The district continues to experience immense urban growth with the impending Playford North, Blakeview and Buckland Park developments. Council’s Population Vision estimates that growth will be in the vicinity of 50,000 people over the next 20 years.
Service sustainability issues must be scrutinised to ensure Council is providing the right mix of services to the community at a cost the community is willing to pay, and in a manner that can be sustained for future generations.
In addition to these initiatives, Council is developing a community engagement framework - placing us in an ideal position to engage our community in decision making that affects them.
The Playford Council also focuses on how elected members and staff relate to and work together. This joint planning model ensures that we have equipped and positioned ourselves to be able to respond effectively and collectively to the challenges of the future.
